Cinco De Mayo is easily one of my favorite holidays. There is nothing I love more than a good margarita and once you throw tortilla chips and guacamole into the mix I’m sold. Cince De Mayo is also the perfect holiday to use as an excuse to have friends over. Nothing like some taco dip to get us over the midweek hump and set us sailing into Friday.
Margaritas are one of the easiest cocktails to make. There are only a few ingredients and they are easy to get right. Especially if you are like me and taste as you go along ; ) There is one component that makes all the difference though, FRESH fruit juice. Once you’ve tasted a margarita with fresh lime juice, there is just no going back. It may take a little extra work but it will be worth it! Between the squeezing of the limes and the shaking of the cocktail shaker, you can consider this your pre-celebration workout!
I love a classic margarita, but this year I decided to switch it up and try a spin on the classic. It took a little trial and error, although I assure you it wasn’t too painful, but I finally got it just right! See below for the recipe and tips for making a killer homemade margarita.
Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Margaritas
